Mr. Morrone’s lecture will focus on the events and history of New York publishing during the time of Albert Boni’s 1927 publication of Proust’s “Cities of the Plain,” translated into English by C.K. Scott Moncrieff.
FRANCIS MORRONE is a writer and historian specializing in the architecture and social history of New York. He is the author of eleven books and hundreds of articles. As a faculty member at NYU, he is the recipient of its coveted Excellence in Teaching Award. In 2012, The Institute of Classical Architecture awarded Francis its prestigious Arthur Ross Award for advancing the classical tradition in art and architecture. Mr. Morrone is arguably New York’s most popular walking tour guide and was named by Travel & Leisure magazine as one of the thirteen best tour guides in world. His literary walking tours have included the lives of Herman Melville, Joseph Mitchell, Henry James, Walt Whitman, and Edith Wharton. In addition, he served six years as the art and architecture critic for the New York Sun.
